Inspire Connection

Every November the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) sets aside a week to honor school psychologists. This year’s theme, “Inspire Connection,” celebrates the relationships they build with students, families and educators. Here is the week day by day, and how to take part.

The week, day by day

Five days, five questions

NASP pairs each day with a question. Use them for morning announcements, staff emails or social media posts.

Monday, November 9

What connections inspire you?

Recognize the partnerships with educators, families and teams that help students thrive. Share one that makes a difference in your school.

Tuesday, November 10

Where can connection take you?

School psychologists provide comprehensive services aligned with the NASP Practice Model. Share how connecting data, people and services deepens your impact.

Wednesday, November 11

How will we inspire change?

It’s Virtual Hill Day. Contact your legislators about the workforce and supports students need, and post with #SchoolPsychWeek and #NASPadvocates.

Thursday, November 12

What connects us?

Highlight how your school helps every student feel seen, valued and supported, and the strengths you bring to that work.

Friday, November 13

Let’s inspire connection!

Thank a school psychologist, and think about how to keep building those connections for the rest of the year.

Virtual Hill Day

In the middle of the week, NASP asks school psychologists to speak up for the workforce students need. Shortages of school psychologists limit students’ access to services across the country. Each of these steps takes a few minutes:

  1. Contact your state legislators. Tell them what your caseload looks like and what would help.
  2. Contact your members of Congress through NASP’s federal action alert.
  3. Post about it with #SchoolPsychWeek and #NASPadvocates, and tag your legislators.

Simple ways to celebrate

  • Use the morning announcements. Name your school psychologist and share one thing they do for students.
  • Put your thanks in writing. A card from a class or a note from the principal goes a long way.
  • Recognize the role publicly at a faculty meeting, in a district newsletter or on a school board agenda.
  • Point families to good information from NASP’s free resources for families and educators.

Members, share what your school did in the member circles. Not a member yet? There’s no better week to join SCASP.
