Three days of legal training designed specifically for school psychologists — special education law, legally defensible practice, and a keynote from the SC Department of Education’s Deputy General Counsel. Attend one, two, or all three days, in person or virtually, and earn SCASP continuing education credit — or college credit through Winthrop University.
Taking it for Winthrop University credit? Each full-day workshop earns 0.5 graduate semester credit ($213 per 0.5 credit; 30% educator discount available). Sign up for Winthrop credit here, then choose a free Winthrop Credit ticket below for the days you’ll attend. Workshop 1: Current Legal Trends and Emerging Legal Issues in Special Education — David Bateman, Ph.D. Includes a one-hour virtual follow-up session in October.
Day 2 · Thursday, September 24 · 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
Workshop 2: Legally Defensible Practices for School Psychologists — Gail Friel, M.A.
Day 3 · Friday, September 25 · 8:30 AM–3:45 PM
Keynote by Barbara Drayton, Deputy General Counsel, SC Department of Education, followed by rotating mini-sessions on current legal issues.
Attending virtually? The live Zoom runs Wednesday, Sept 23, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM and Thursday, Sept 24, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM. Friday, Sept 25 is in person only — there is no virtual option for the keynote and mini-sessions.
