    Description of the position: Primary Purpose: The job of the Shared ServiceCoordinator of Psychological Services and MTSS is to improve the educational experience of students who have difficulty with learning and behavior and who need preventive psychological services through proper intervention, program of diagnosis and appropriate follow-up. This includes
    serving as the MTSS specialist within the schools and designing and implementing a MTSS process and procedure.

    The school psychologist will act as a liaison between the individual students they serve and the school special education coordinator serving also as a resource of information regarding special education programs and services.

    Essential Institute Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist with other duties assigned by the Director ofSpecial Education
    • Work with the Institute to develop the MTSS Policies and Procedures and a common platform for all schools to use, as well as any data reporting related to psychological service and MTSS.

    Professional Responsibilities:

    Assessment and Interpretation
    Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as, the enviromental factors that affect learning and adjustment.  Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs.  Prefer Rtl, ADOS and BAYLEY experience.
    Direct Interventions for Students
    Provides interventions to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment.
    Consultation and Training
    Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.
    Program Development
    Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs.
    School Psychology Program Implementation
    Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services.
    Professional Practice and Development
    Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice.  Adheres to state and local policies for Medicaid billing.  Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skill.
    Communication and Relationship Skills
    Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
    Job Requirements

    Meets minimum standards for certification as set forth by the South Carolina State Board of Education in Minimum Standards for the certification of School Psychologist II and SCASP licensure.
    Excellent evaluations and /or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.
    Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel and parents.
    Capacity to explore South Carolina LPHA Credential.

Our school psychologist interns play a critical role in supporting students and families and typically will have a 2 school assignment, which allows them to gain experiences in a variety of settings with a diverse population of students.
