School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties

03 Jan 2022 5:25 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)
Employer Name School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties
Description of the position: District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties has 3.5 certified school psychologist positions open for the 2022-2023 school year.

Our School Psychologists play a primary role in advocacy for all students. Our team of school psychologists  provides a wide range of services to promote mental health, emotional/behavioral functioning, and educational progress for all students with and without disabilities.  We promote a comprehensive services model of school psychology and advocate for low school psychologist to student ratio.  To that end, all of our school psychologists have a one or two-school assignment.  When our newly acquired positions are filled, most of our school psychologists will have a one school assignment.

Integral to our role is our consultation and coordination with teachers, parents, administrators, placement chairs, 504 chairs, MTSS leadership, and Student Assistance Team chairpersons. Active membership and leadership on school-based and district committees is common and encouraged.  Our district is currently developing our model of Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports and school psychologists are actively engaged in that process as members of both intervention and leadership teams at the school and district levels.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, our psychologists coordinate and implement comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility of students for special education services and 504 plans and to provide recommendations for instructional programming and social-emotional support and interventions. We have the opportunity to provide counseling services and are ongoing members of threat and suicide assessment teams.

The District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties has a strong and supportive school psychologist team that believes in frequent collaboration, encouragement and celebrating and benefiting from each individual’s experience and expertise.  We’d love you to join the team!
